Brrrrr! An Early Snow

Well, after the cold rainy days – we had a brief snow overnight… the weather here is always changing so it won’t last, but still it’s no picnic to wake up to.  I headed outside around ten to do the usual bird watching and hoping to see the Catbird again.

Let’s see who was out and about…

And aha! I see the Catbird again, and this time he’s having lunch in my tree :)

After lunch he hopped over to the Mayday tree where I was able to take a couple more pictures through the branches.  He’s such a beautiful bird.

Grey Catbird – a new challenge

A dark and rainy day today, so dark and cloudy I knew photography would not be a good option but still I’m compelled to see what might be moving about in the yard.  As usual, there was a few house sparrows around the tree beside the feeder, but something else in the cherry tree caught my eye.  The dark day made finding the dark bird a bit of a challenge to see it high up in the cover of the tree, but when I finally got a good look I was so happy to see it was a Grey Catbird! Another first for my backyard birding 😀

This is the only photo  – but enough for my ID and now I’m going to be on the lookout when the rain passes to see if he is still around.

It’s a Lifer (feeling spoiled this summer) Tennessee Warbler

I’m feeling blessed to have seen so many birds in my own backyard this summer… especially ones I’ve never seen before, such as the case with this little Tennessee Warbler who flitted about my trees for a couple of days – just long enough for me to snap a few shots and ID another lifer :)
