For Feathers on Friday – I found a Flicker picture from a couple of days ago, he was singing on a cloudy grey day, Flicker Feathers on Friday 😉
Other Feathers on Friday blogs:
I’m very happy today because I had a nice backyard visit with a beautiful Northern Flicker. My feathered friend even posed for me and gave me great eye contact all while enjoying the beautiful warm day.
I’ve seen the Robins around the neighbourhood, but today I saw a good photo opportunity so snapped this (below). I like how he’s just resting in the cherry tree.
How sweet is this little singing Tennessee Warbler? She popped by to say hello, so tiny and lovely.
She posed so perfectly on the fence – I just had to take her portrait.
It was a short and sunny backyard birding day today, although the sun was quite harsh I was still able to spot a few birds standing under tree shade.
Flickers are cool, they just are! Their colors and mismatched patterned feathers make them really stand out from other birds. The ones I’ve seen around my yard are usually on the ground hunting for bugs and they usually don’t mind me taking a few photos if I stay in my place with very little movement.
Hiding under the trees in the shade also led to my first warblers captured on camera in my yard. I welcome the bright little ladies and hope to see them again soon, they are such a delight to watch as they hardly stand still for a second!
